Regional Site Communication Manager (Experienced Professional)

Mission:

The Mission of the Regional Communication Manager is to design the site communication plans (internal, external, change) for three facilities; US3 (Spartanburg, SC), GEO (Covington, GA) and ASH (Asheboro, NC). Ensure that the plan is effectively deployed, that the related risks are carefully managed and that the communications are globally consistent. Act as an internal communication consultant to the site management team and represent the site on behalf of the site Director to external local parties (press excluded), so as to contribute to the protection and development of the reputation of the company at the local level, to the development of employee engagement, and to the achievement of the site’s objectives.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Communication Plan

Manages the development, production and implementation of a strategic communication plan. Directs internal or external partners as required to ensure effective and efficient translation of communication strategies into activation plans. Benchmarks strategy and communication plan with other organizations seen as best in class. Executes actions plans for corporate and brand communication. Uses the performance measurements to establish a diagnostic.

Employee Engagement Communication

Understands audiences and develops specific actions and tools to promote their engagement with the entity/Group strategy and initiative. Develops managerial communication tools and supports this communication with the management of the entity. Advises management on how to engage their teams. Identifies gaps or support materials to improve communication channels. Highlights the contributions of people and teams to support engagement. Identifies obstacles to the implementation of change initiatives and adjusts communication plans as needed. Assists in developing change communication plans. Identifies performance measurement criteria and monitors impact of change communication.

Event Management

Plans, coordinates and manages a complex event, in close collaboration with the project team and the sponsor. Ensures that all messages are interpreted as intended by the team. Delivers on budget. Plans and develops programs, agendas, budgets and services in line with the sponsor's requirements.

Crisis Communication

Employs crisis principles to classify potential or current crises under supervision. Leverages crisis communication tools to manage crises of varying complexity. Identifies obstacles that can impact the success of crisis communication methods and tools. Develops holding statements to be delivered to stakeholders, through media outlets and/or on social media. Identifies key risk factors for an online crisis, escalating concerns as required. Monitors brand reputation on social media following the release of crisis communication content. Follows reputation management guidelines to maintain the organization’s reputation and authenticity through stakeholder engagement.

Media Relations

Coordinates, produces and implements actions, formats and tools for communication with the media. Develops and maintains contacts with key public figures/leaders, local public relations and local media outlets for the Group’s benefit, under guidance. Arranges interviews and other forms of contact with the media. Prepares or edits content for media communication materials. Drafts messaging for company spokespeople. Monitors media results.

Brand Strategy and Reputation management

Uses primary tools such as brand architecture and positioning sheets and mappings, including to compare with competitors. Ensures the consistency of the different brands' positioning within the Group's communication actions. Implements through his/her internal partners the Group Brand management standards in terms of editorial, visual and sound identities. Demonstrates understanding of brand performance and communication efficiency monitoring, including those of competitors.

Digital Engagement

Contributes to a digital communication project and coordinates across departments. Assists with general digital engagement communication initiatives, including social media. Contributes to create digital editorial calendars. Demonstrates understanding of digital measurement and project management. Understands key metrics used to analyze social network account and page performance

Requirements

Strong writing and verbal skills are required, as well as communication and coaching skills. This expertise includes clarity of expression and the ability to think and write synthetically. Ability to create a site communication plan based on the site’s situations and priorities, adjust and make choices as the landscape changes, and execute such that employees understand the key messages. This requires the ability to balance Group/Zone/local needs, attention to detail, courage to make decisions, capacity for volume, and ability to influence individuals and teams. Ability to adapt communication style and deal tactfully and professionally with all site employees. This includes the ability to handle sensitive information and materials in a confidential manner. Demonstrated ability to understand and express Company culture, values and practices, as well as business strategy and priorities. Ability to give context and perspective toCompany subjects, projects and messages, thereby enabling employees at the site level to translate into their personal situation. Ability to rapidly adapt, reprioritize and make decisions based on changing needs or crisis situations is critical. Demonstrated ability to succeed with minimal coaching within a complex matrix organization. Ability to manage agency work and outside vendors for ad hoc projects. Excellent organizational skills along with computer skills to include: mastery of PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
