Job Summary:

Scality software-defined Scality RING also natively provides a Scale Out File System (SOFS) for applications that require and depend on file system interfaces (mainly through NFS and SMB protocols), and need to organize data in folders, at multi petabytes scale.

Such Multi-petabytes, multi-sites, multi-applications, multi-protocols, performances demanding distributed infrastructures running on standard x86 platforms are requiring that Scality is always on the forefront of the deployment management, containerization, and orchestrations technologies. In deed our typical deployment can necessitate hundreds or thousands of servers that should be seamlessly setup, monitored and eventually orchestrated.

In order to define it’s next generation of products Scality is seeking an individual already well versed within these technologies and challenges and who’ll be willing to act as a leader to help define and maintain Scality strategy on deployment and orchestration, ensure execution is done with respect to customer expectations in close relationship with most of the active working forces within Scality.

Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Product, this role will drive frequent interactions with Sales, Sales Engineers and Support teams on the customer facing side as well as Tech-Leads, Architects and up to CTO level on the internal side.

The mission of the Product Owner/Product Manager will be to:
Understand Scality’s customer and market requirements, solutions and use cases Translate requirements and solutions into roadmaps and detailed product features Assist in research and specifying the features, and to justify their priority in the RING User Stories backlog Be able to clearly articulate customer requirements into Epics and User Stories Work closely with engineering teams including involvement in development team meetings, as the key liaison between the engineering team and product teams. Communicate on the detailed specifications to Sales Engineers to ensure clear understanding on the feature and avoid scope creep. Help in processing, understanding, refining and prioritizing the customer requirements coming from TS/SE. Be able to hold the PO role for several teams in parallel Travel up to 25% across US and Europe related to the above mentioned tasks Desired Skills & Experience:
The ideal candidate would have the following knowledge and skills:

BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent 2 years of experience as a PO in a High Tech software company ideally related to install, deployment, monitoring and management challenges of pure, hybrid cloud and distributed infrastructures. Strong knowledge of Agile / Lean development methodology Should the applicant add Software defined object storage and distributed file systems knowledge to this skill set that’d be even better. Previous role as a Systems Engineer, System Administrator with preference given to candidates who have previous experience working closely with product management peers Technical Skills:
Cloud Platforms: AWS / MS Azure / Google Cloud / Open Stack. Datacenters technologies in general (Administration, storage, networking, security) Containerizations (Docker, Rocket….) Orchestration (Kubernetes, Swarm, Mesos…) Conceptual and technical understanding of storage, including network interfaces, file system technology (NFS, SMB, REST and block), Object Storage (S3) data protection schemes, replication, management interfaces. Linux distributions Experience with network storage systems would also be highly valued, including related technologies such as backup, archive and replication. NB: Candidates with expertise in networking, virtualization, Linux operation systems and other related technologies should also apply.
