We are

Alstom Smart Mobility department, and we drive strategic programs aiming at developing Alstom new offering in mobility. We are leading & executing a set of initiatives including new digital solutions for mobility but also some “smart” solutions in different domains, energy efficiency, traffic management, driving automation or passenger services. Alstom has already achieved interesting moves with the acquisition of Nomad Digital and 21NET, partnership with Easymile and the launch of innovative solutions in multimodal supervision and electric transportation.

To strengthen our business development, we are looking for Data Scientist.

You are

Competent in the field of Big Data and IOT Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative discipline such as Operations Research or Economics 1- 3 years of relevant quantitative/qualitative research and analytics development experience. Knowledge of IaaS and PaaS (Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS …) and Open Source components Knowledge on machine learning/deep learning algorithms. Strong programming skills (such as Hadoop Mapreduce, Spark, or other big data frameworks, Java), and statistical modelling (like SAS or R) Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms Ability to come up with solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging pattern detection over potentially large datasets Being proactive to increase productivity, previous job in a start-up can be a plus. Fluent in English is mandatory in international context. French is mandatory for day to day business.

You want

To develop data analytics work stream, defining and deploying it To define data collection, integration, and retention solutions based on the input collected with the business With the rest of the incubation team, define a complete data storage, analytic and visualization architecture anticipating the constraints (regulations; IT policy; confidentiality, etc…) that will apply when we will deploy the solution at our customers premises. To Identify what data is available and relevant, including internal and external data sources, leveraging innovative data collection processes (IoT, geo-location, social media, weather forecast, …) Clean and analyze data to identify patterns and useful business information on real-life situations To Develop, through iterative process, data analytics solutions to provide support to operators To support the identification of solutions that would provide added value to our customers through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques To demonstrate the value of the solutions through “proof of concept” and “proof of value” phases in cooperation with Alstom customers and partners To conduct technically innovative programs including: To write specifications of functional & non-functional requirements of the data platform To propose services and applications for the transportation market, made possible by the data platform To supervise the activity of partner’s research engineer(s) To transform your theoretical proposals into prototypes and industrialized solutions for railway market To participate in shaping the future of mobility business in an environment allowing entrepreneurship and creative design thinking within a rich ecosystem.

Location

Villeurbanne Alstom Offices, regular trips (few days per month) national or international.
