Genmab is an international biotechnology company specializing in the invention and development of differentiated human antibody therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and other important human diseases.

Role

Genmab is currently seeking a (Senior) Data Scientist in Discovery and Early Translational Research to be based at the Zeist office in the Netherlands. This is a highly collaborative role between the Data Science, New Antibody Products Research and Early Translational Research departments.

You will work in a multidisciplinary, international team of world-class scientists with state-of-the-art knowledge of the antibody and oncology field. The goal is to work with multiple early translational teams to bring new, groundbreaking antibody therapeutics to the clinic. We use a highly integrated combination of wet lab, in-vivo, computational and bioinformatics approaches to advance our understanding of cancer and the effect of our molecules.

As a highly independent computational scientist you will lead and contribute to innovative projects in research and translational settings, with the freedom to explore and implement cutting-edge technologies that can help us advance new antibody therapeutics.

Genmab places a high value on new, transformational data science approaches to enhance our drug discovery and development efforts. As a (Senior) Data Scientist in the Discovery Data Science team, you will get the unique opportunity to make a large impact on the development of ground-breaking new medicines to serve cancer patients with high unmet medical needs. In addition, as a fully integrated biotech company, Genmab will give you the chance to experience drug development from discovery to translation into the clinic.

This initial 12-month fixed term contract role has the potential to be extended and to transition into a permanent position.

You are responsible for the visualization of complex data, reducing complex problems into intuitive explanations that can be presented to a diverse scientific audience. You play a pivotal role in the development and expansion of cutting-edge bioinformatics and computational tools and pipelines to support your work and the organization in general. You develop a long-term vision that anticipates emerging organizational needs and act to translate that into an array of technology evaluation pilots, external partnerships, and work-streams to advance translational research and help us get molecules from the research stage into the clinic. You report scientific results in patents, publications, and regulatory documents.

Requirements

You hold a PhD degree in biology, bioinformatics, or computational biology/immunology field. 2 years or more experience in a similar position within industry or as a postdoctoral researcher. You have good programming skills (preferably with R) and are experienced in using cloud services for storage and computing. You have formal training in or extensive experience with applied statistics, modeling, and machine learning. You are creative, pro-active, enthusiastic, out-of-the-box thinking, and goal orientated with a strong ability to work independently.
