Job Description - Chief Data Scientist

WeSmart is looking for a senior data scientist to synthesize and leverage our massive dataset of energy data to enhance solution analysis. This is a unique opportunity to join a new, multidisciplinary team of creative and passionate individuals destined to change the face of energy and IOT data management. We are focused on the company’s agenda, and work on high-impact projects utilizing big data analytics and machine learning to improve energy solutions. We’re a lean, flat and experimental team combining science and engineering to identify and inject high-value insights into energy management processes at their point of highest impact. The team works in quick iterations, using the techniques and algorithms best suited for solving the challenging problems of energy management.

What you’ll be doing:

You will advocate, evangelise and build data-fueled products that help our customers improve energy solutions. You’ll dig in and become an expert on energy and IOT datasets. You will provide insight into leading analytic practices, design and lead iterative learning and development cycles, and ultimately produce new and creative analytic solutions that will become part of our core deliverables.

You will work with cross-functional team members to identify and prioritise actionable, high-impact insights across a variety of core business areas for WeSmart but also for our customers. You will lead applied analytics initiatives that are leveraged across the breadth of our solutions for energy management. You will research, design, implement and validate cutting-edge algorithms to analyse diverse sources of data to achieve targeted outcomes.

As our data scientist, you will provide expertise on mathematical concepts for the broader applied analytics team and inspire the adoption of advanced analytics and data science across the entire breadth of our organisation.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Master or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research or any related field A minimum of 4 years of working experience as a data scientist or in analytics Strong programming skills such as Java and/or Python Minimum of 2 years’ experience in machine learning Minimum of 2 years’ experience in team management Knowledge of statistical tools such SAS, R, Matlab, … is required Professional experience in the energy sector is preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical competencies and excellent creative problem-solving skills Fluent in French and English
