Background
IMERYS spends approximately 150 €M on Energy in EMEA. A large proportion of this spend is via external suppliers in each country, which includes wholesale energy price, transmission, transportation, distribution and taxation; all of which require management through the Purchasing organisation.
Scope
The role will support the IMERYS EMEA Energy Purchasing Category Manager, working closely with the rest of the energy team, local buyers, operations and the technical leaders of the industrial team and global category manager as required.
Keys Tasks & Responsibilities
Be a leader in HSE (Health Safety & Environment) and ethical-sustainable supply chain as it applies to the respective spend category.
Develop collaborative cross-functional relationships to meet internal business needs to assure availability at required quality & costs levels.
To be responsible for implementation of global or regional category strategy, program and specific policies.
Support implementation of purchasing tools, technology, and sourcing processes to improve results & increase efficiencies.
Monitors, analyses, and provides guidance for market impacts and trends.
Manage associated regional energy contracts, price application/control, and periodic contract review (to quantify supplier performance).
Identify, manage and execute sourcing projects in energy related areas within EMEA to drive down costs, optimize rate structures and ensure uninterrupted service to IMERYS’ plant operations.
Assisting plants and businesses in auditing energy invoices for accuracy.
Implement best practices; collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and learning to fuel continuous improvement.
Reporting and analysis, collect and report the financial performance including tracking of target savings.
Manage tax exemptions, subsidies, applications, reporting to authorities and work closely with operational sites to ensure that all submissions are made on time and in full.
Work closely with local buyers/operations teams from all entities and the suppliers and establish performance review with the strategic suppliers of his/her category.
Understanding and monitoring of tariff rates and options by country, fuel-related costs, rate changes, and leveraging this knowledge for cost reduction opportunities across the region.
Working closely with operations/plants, energy providers and consultants to optimize energy consumption through technical projects.
Implement best practices; collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and learning to fuel continuous improvement.
Develop and provide adequate KPI’s (quantitative and qualitative) related to his category.
Responsible for all ERP system requests and validation process (validation of suppliers, implementation of prices lists, reporting, validation of PO…) assigned to his roles and responsibilities.
Assessment of Performance
Support IMERYS Group Purchasing collective target for each respective year, by delivering specific savings assigned by Purchasing.
Required Experience, Skills & Education
Knowledge of European energy markets – specific focus on Central Europe (focus on Germany and outlying countries) and/or Southern Europe (focus on Italy and Spain).
Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering or Business - Master’s in Business, Industrial or consulting background is a bonus.
Understanding of energy markets in EMEA, global drivers, regional issues.
Strategic sourcing experience (including successful experience in a multinational group).
Excellent, demonstrated collaboration and relationship-building skills, good in communication, leadership and convincing skills.
Ability to collaborate with strong, defined technical resources and leaders.
Very strong analytic and negotiation skills, process oriented.
Established professional with broad business experience, strategic partnerships with business units, in a global company.
Familiar working within a multinational environment.
At ease with contracts establishment and management.
Multiple language skills (English mandatory) and French, German, Spanish, Italian are great additions.
Ability to travel to EMEA sites up to 50%.
