As part of our activities in France, we are looking for a :

Sunflower Data Analyst Scientist (H/F)

Role purpose :

As a Data Analyst Scientist, reporting to the Global Project Leader, you contribute to drive genetic gain by the improvement of data, their access, quality and analysis, to help breeding teams take best decisions about production development, selection and placement.

You work in an international context; in a multi-business environment with Breeders, Trialling, Genetic Specialists (AGS), and several other groups, related to data production or analysis.

The position is offered on a permanent contract, and based in France/Saint-Sauveur (31).

Occasional and short-term travel, in France and abroad, is expected.

Accountabilities:

You guarantee the access to data needed by breeding activities (phenotypic data, environment, production, image analysis …): which implies data accessibility, in format and systems that allow fast queries, quality control and data automation, to be used by different tools and different purposes.
You also guarantee the quality and standardization of the data across regions and functions (coding and identity material’s rules, statistics…).
You contribute to the continuous improvement of :

Statistical Data analysis by developing new guidelines for phenotypic data aggregation and imputation, implementing new tools in breeding, integrating environmental data and image analysis Performance criteria: genetic gain, comparison of selection schemes, optimisation of selection parameters (number of crosses, progeny, testers...). You also contribute to the development and integration of IT tools that allow a more efficient access and use of phenotypic and environmental data.

You provide support and help users in new statistical methods to ensure that quality data is used by all to contribute to the development and selection of the best hybrids, their placement as expected by the market, etc.
Finally, you work in active-collaboration with several groups, within Seed Development, with the Operations teams and in particular the Trials Excellence team (choice of networks, experimental design...).

With your counterparts of other crops (corn, cereals). And with the Analytics and Data Science teams (on the methods and tools part), and Pipeline Enablement (on the innovative phenotyping part).

Qualifications Qualifications and Skills :
Bachelor degree with 5 years’ experience, or Master/Engineer degree specialising in Agronomy and/or Data Management.
You have a good knowledge of statistics (descriptive, linear and mixed models, multi-variable analyses, etc.) and Agronomy (interaction with the environment, biotic and abiotic plant stresses, agricultural practices, etc.).

And also, good knowledge of selection theory and quantitative genetics.
You are very comfortable with the use of computer tools /data management (Excel, Access...). Statistical software’s knowledge (such as JMP...) and/or programming (such as VBA, R, PYTHON) is a plus for your application.
English fluent/professional level is imperative for this position (emails, meetings, technical documentation...), Spanish practice would be appreciated
Autonomous and rigorous, you are able to evolve in a complex environment, within a matrix organization.
Good communicator, you are able to work in a multi-business environment and adapt to your interlocutors.
Pedagogue, users are at the centre of your priorities: functional analysis of the existing system, collection of needs, proposal of solutions, follow-up of requests and prioritisation, training in new tools, etc...
