The Business Analyst role is a key interface between the Business and IT throughout the project lifecycle from concept through design, development, testing and transition. The role of the Business Analyst is to investigate, analyse, document and identify requirements of the business and to collaboratively prepare viable requirements documentation and acceptance criteria to enable design and development. The Business Analyst is the main point of contact with the Business to resolve questions and queries regarding specifications, throughout UAT and the transition into Operations.

The Business Analyst will be required to not only carry out the expected Business Analyst responsibilities, but also manage a small team of Business Analysts. As well as the usual managerial responsibilities regarding demand and resource management, and performance management, a key aspect to the role is forging a Business Analysis Centre of Excellence, to set and maintain a high quality standard of critical thinking and requirements, such that the right solution for the business needs is identified and deployed, at the right time.

Decision Making (25%)

Assist in defining and justifying (in business terms) business cases, initiatives to develop/implement automated and non-automated components and/ or RFPs. Identify a project's key stakeholders and an assessment of their interests in the project to determine the way(s) in which these interests should be considered throughout the project lifecycle. Work with colleagues locally and across the EMEA region to investigate, model and document business functions, processes/procedures, data flows, using various methodical and consistent techniques.

Independence of Action and Accountability (25%)

Create appropriate documentation which meets the required standards, and suitable methods such as functional business models, process modelling, use cases, gap analysis, SWOT analysis, and ensure relevant sign off is sought, achieved and recorded. Assess and confirm feasibility of requirements, proposed solutions and facilitate the resolution of identified issues to the satisfaction of business users

Leadership (25%)

Provide leadership to team members and peers through collaboration; articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management, peers and others, mentoring less experienced Business Analysts, tracking demand and managing resources; driving the resolution of issues. Identify and capitalise on improvement opportunities and innovative ways to improve customer satisfaction Hold self and team accountable for delivery of high quality artefacts, methodologies, and governance criteria which facilitate delivery of suitable solutions

Problem Solving (25%)

To investigate and document operational issues, problems and new opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes/procedures, organisation and equipment. Assist in the analysis of the underlying issues arising from investigations into requirements and problems and identifies available options for consideration. Take a significant role in project & user meetings, facilitate workshops, and present issues and solutions both orally and in writing, using due diligence, expertise and critical thinking to challenge and question as appropriate, to ensure requirements reflect the business need
Qualifications
Has gained significant experience in an IT environment, and a commercial/ Retail environment. Has experience managing a team of Business Analysts, and strong commitment to ensuring the quality and consistency of the work produced Shows a systematic, analytical approach to problem solving and an exposure to modelling tools and techniques Has excellent interpersonal skills and is a sensitive communicator in different societies and cultures, and is confident in dealing with stakeholders at all levels. Possesses a broad understanding of business and business skills. A confident facilitator, able to challenge, influence and negotiate to run effective workshops and build rapports with stakeholders

Is familiar with the software engineering life cycle for development and the concepts and practices required to implement effective information systems.
