Vicomte Florens De Castellane, heir of one of the oldest families in France, founded his own house of champagne in 1895 in Epernay. Visionary and resolute to promote his brand to the eyes of the world, he chose as his logo the red Saint-Andrews cross as a tribute to the standard of the oldest regiment in the Champagne region. Thanks to his cousin, Boni de Castellane, Champagne De Castellane quickly became the Parisian Smart-Set during the Belle-Epoque period. In theaters, upper restaurants, De Castellane is poured in the most trendy places... Since 1907, the Merand family took over leadership of the brand, and developed it around the world : London, Brussels, New-York, Sydney... Claude Mérand, wife of Bernard de Nonancourt (owner and chairman of Champagne Laurent-Perrier) inherited the company in 1970. Nowadays, Champagne De Castellane remains a familial property, owned and managed by the the fourth generation of Mérand. De Castellane produces De Castellane Brut, Rosé, Vintage, and Demi-Sec.
