Unifor is a new Canadian union with more than 310,000 members in every sector, right across the country. Unifor works to protect our members and all working people. The union plays a leadership role in building thriving, safe workplaces and a strong economy so all workers in Canada have a good job, a decent standard of living and greater equality. Our union and members participate in our communities and in the political process to make Canadian society more just and equitable for everyone. Unifor advocates for and defends the economic and social rights of working people, including their human rights and their right to: safe work, secure employment, a wage and benefits that provide a decent standard of living, and dignity, equity and mutual respect in the workplace. Unifor was established on Labour Day in 2013, as a result of the merger of the Canadian Auto Workers union (CAW) and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union (CEP).
