The Business Development Representative is responsible for growing the business by prospecting, cold-calling, networking, and managing the full sales life cycle. The ideal candidate will have a successful sales track record selling satellite tracking, communications and/or similar logistics and operation improvement solutions to military, government, aviation, maritime, or enterprise customers. Some travel is required and may include customer meetings, industry conferences & events, and company meetings. The Business Development Representative may be based in San Diego, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, or out of a home office.
Compiles lists of prospective customers, prepares a sales plan aimed at converting them into accounts, and executes on the sales plan
Creates contacts and cultivates relationships with the appropriate persons within new and existing customer organizations
Demonstrates products online and in-person to prospective customers
Identify a prospect’s key needs and translate those needs into a Blue Sky Network solution
Prepares contracts, quotes, prices, terms and specifications, etc. for presentation to the customer
Calls on customers electronically and personally, traveling as necessary
Prepares sales activity reports for management
Represents the company at trade associations and special interest meetings to promote Blue Sky Network and the company’s products and services
Provides input and support for the development of related collateral material
Must have a demonstrable track record of sales success that includes exceeding sales pipeline forecasts, KPI ratios, sales metrics, engaging sales demo and meetings, contract development, pricing negotiations, demand/lead generation, client discovery
Previous experience with sales in the aviation, aerospace, government, defense, maritime, land mobile and/or other adjacent industries is preferable
Strong in-person, phone, and online presentation skills are essential
Ability to work collaboratively and in autonomy with all levels of employees and customers
Exceptional organizational skills are necessary
Superior verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong track record of consultative and problem-solving driven sales is essential
Must be proficient in the use of technology to include Salesforce and reporting dashboard, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and email programs
