Description

Job Purpose:

To manage a specific sales territory and clients within budget constraints to achieve highest possible return on sales costs spent, achieving regional sales target that contributes to the overall corporate sales and strategic objectives.



Key Relationships:

Customers and internally and externally throughout Molecular Devices (EU and US) and the Danaher Corporation. Third party Sales Channel partners such as Local Lead Finding Partners and local VWR representatives.



Key Responsibilities:
Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual Quota in designated territory. Provide accurate forecasts on a defined schedule. Participate on weekly funnel reviews with manager. Provide all reports when requested by manager within set timescales/deadlines. Develop and maintain accurate Territory Plan. To qualify, develop, support and close sales of the Molecular Devices system ImageXpress Pico (Personal Imager) with associated software CellReporterXpress. Focus is NOT on prospecting, lead finding and creation of new sales opportunities (lead generation), as this will primarily be done by the internal EU Marketing organisation and channel partners such as VWR. Focus is on progressing deals down the sales funnel pipeline and on closing deals in shortest timeline possible. Keep a steady rolling funnel with critical weight upright and close deals within set timeframe like fiscal months, quarters and years Establish and sustain relationship and coach existing channel partners in territory to engage them to do prospecting. Work together with MD Account Managers BioResearch (Plate Reader) and Drug Discovery (High end Imaging) for potential upselling to and from the ImageXpress Pico. Achieve assigned sales targets while remaining within the established expense budget and providing customer satisfaction. Close liaison with the rest of the team to ensure seamless customer support from initial interest to post-sales support. Maintain a high level of technical and application competence of Molecular Devices products. Monitor competitor’s activities, products, and potential new or improved applications or product extensions. Evaluate effectiveness of Molecular Devices’ marketing programs and input and work together with EU Marcom for ImageXpress Pico promotion and digital marketing activities Provide monthly revenue and product forecasting, quarterly plans of action, status, and expense reports. Attend trade shows, seminars and workshops as well as maintaining customer contacts to develop and improve sales skills. Perform other related duties as assigned. Take responsibility for own personal development and knowing about the market and competition. Is aware of Health and Safety and conducts self in a way that does not put him/herself or any other person at risk.

Qualifications

Person Specification:
The job holder should possess the qualifications, experience and skills set out below to meet the requirements of the role as well as embrace the Danaher Values:

Qualifications:
BS degree, preferably in life science technology with a (molecular/cellular) biology background or equivalent. Experience in Microscopy or Imaging would be ideal.
Experience:
At least 3 years sales experience in selling capital equipment in relevant field. Must be able to demonstrate ability to achieve targets consistently. Demonstrable success in direct sales of capital equipment to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic and government research laboratory customers.


Skills:
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in areas of negotiation, persuasion, research & problem solving. Technical ability and personal skills to run convincing software and Instrument demos at customer site Experience in using CRM software, ideally SFDC Be highly motivated with demonstrative interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills. Be energetic, enthusiastic and hungry for success. The ability to work with a high degree of independence, self-starters. Ability to work together in a constructive way with peers, subordinates and seniors in anticipating and resolving issues
Personal attributes:
Clean driving license Able to regularly travel and work away from home nationally and occasionally internationally especially within territory. Feel comfortable to work for an organization with high level of defined standard work and feel comfortable to follow and adapt existing procedures. Feel comfortable to get regular system generated reports of personally achieved business KPIs which are shared across management and be enspired to counteract with action plans should KPIs be offset. Be result driven. Value return of invest from actions. Create Opportunities rather than wait for Opportunities. Be pro-active.
