Overview

The Sales and Support Scientist will actively participate in the technical sales process and support the Biotechnology products in an assigned territory (France, Finland and Sweden).
The job duties include a focus on Proteomics and Molecular Imaging Reagent and driving sales for instruments and reagents as well as technical services contracts.

Education

Ph.D. or a scientific degree with equivalent scientific experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or related technical discipline is required; in addition post-doctoral experience with extensive lab work experience is preferred.

Experience

Laboratory
Minimum two (2) years lab work experience with solid knowledge in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques studying DNA and proteins in vitro and vivo, with practical experience using biomolecule separation and blotting techniques, as well as immunofluorescence detection, flow-cytometry, ELISA and immunoassays to analyze proteins.
Instrumentation and Software
Excellent aptitude for and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with complex lab instrumentation, computers and software, including scientific analysis software packages. Windows and Macintosh, operating system familiarity required.
Communication Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven interpersonal, and presentation aptitude; will be fluent in both verbal and written English with other languages being an advantage. Demonstrated ability to teach, train and present technical information in varied situations, one-on-one or to large formal meetings. Enjoys and works well with people.

Work from a home office when not traveling.
Job requires a moderate to high percentage of overnight travel.

Position Responsibilities

SALES SUPPORT
Give technical presentations for customers, including seminars and workshops. Conduct onsite product demonstrations including help with logistics, install and start-up of systems, run samples, and adapt, optimize, or develop protocols to meet customer requirements. Participate in trade shows as needed. Generate and qualify new sales prospects.
INSTALLATION AND TRAINING
Travel to the customer’s site to set up and verify the operation of products and conduct set-up experiments. Provide instrument, protocol and software training to users. Ensure that the customer is competent and proficient in the use and operation of the products. Conduct and/or participate in customer training courses.
CUSTOMER SUPPORT & SERVICE
Take incoming calls from customers and sales personnel and provide technical assistance by phone or onsite regarding the application, use, and maintenance of instruments, chemistries, reagents, protocols and software. Provide basic instrument troubleshooting and maintenance. Provide necessary follow-up and support to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction. Interface with the in-house SERVICE team and provide preventative maintenance and basic technical service as required
REAGENT SALES
Actively seek out reagent sales opportunities during system installations, customer trainings, trade shows and conferences, and drive reagent sales in key accounts.
MARKETING and NEW PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT
Interface with Corporate Application and Research Scientists in product and protocol development and the writing and review of technical manuals, notes and scientific publications. Gather information about customer needs, suggestions for product improvements, new product ideas, user issues, and competitive activities for use by Management.
