Job Description


Trainline Advertising’s vision is to offer the most marketplace-centric advertising to connect rail and coach travellers with advertisers at the right moments. Trainline Advertising will enable advertisers to engage with our customers through the entire marketing funnel - from awareness through to purchase and loyalty.    


About the Role 


We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Ad Sales as a founding member of our emerging Advertising team. As the Head of Ad Sales & Account Management, you will be responsible for developing and executing effective sales strategies to hit our direct advertising revenue targets across our EU markets (FR, IT, ES & DE).  


You will do this by building and developing relationships with rail & coach suppliers, non-endemic advertisers, and agencies across European markets (FR, IT, ES and DE). You will work cross-functionally to ensure that our product roadmap is fit for purpose for building out a best-in-class customer and advertiser experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in ad sales, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the digital advertising landscape. 


What you will do 



Develop and implement comprehensive ad sales strategies to meet revenue targets by EU market while collaborating with functions and lines of business.  


Build and maintain strong relationships with advertising agencies, direct clients, and key industry contacts. 


Develop marketing and comms plan. Work with Brand Marketing and Comms to develop scalable sales collateral, B2B marketing and PR plan. 


Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our products, target audience, and customer needs to effectively position and sell advertising solutions. 


Collaborate with Product Eng teams to inform ads surfaces/inventory, formats, targeting, and pricing needed to enable advertisers to engage audiences across advertiser goals of awareness and conversion. 


Develop scalable campaign execution processes and reporting and measurement frameworks to support a best-in-class advertiser experience. 


Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and risks. 


Partner with country leadership and finance to align on revenue targets and KPIs. 



Qualifications


What You Will Need 


We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos to achieve our ambitious plans. You will be a smart, data-driven, commercially minded ad sales/industry expert looking for an exciting next step to be a founding member of an ad organization within a business with meaningful growth and purpose.  



8+ years of advertising sales experience - preferably in an ads platform within a marketplace business or mobile app 


5+ years of experience leading an Ad sales team 


Ideally, a combination of working in complex matrix organizations and fast-moving high growth environments. 


Strong negotiation and closing skills, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth. 




Strong leadership experience with an ability to influence across a business to C level as well as inspire people and creates high performing teams. 


Excellent relationship skills both inside and outside an organisation 


Hustler mindset, willing to embrace the ambiguity, overcome challenges and ‘get things done’ 


Passion for advertising and a strong understanding of consumer behaviour and market dynamics.
