Job Description:
This position is based in Grenoble, France, and reporting to the Finance Manager (based in The Netherlands). Working in a cross functional structure within a matrix organization, the role is hands on and includes monitoring, overseeing and communicating between the outsourced providers, auditors and internal stakeholders. The role includes managing one accountant and requires teaming up with colleagues throughout Europe, Asia and the US.
Key Responsibilities:
Owns the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounts department.
Responsible for the annual statutory accounting of Applied France S.a.r.l.
Responsible for the monthly/quarterly/annual legal accounting close process, including review and analysis of balance sheet and P&L accounts in accordance with US GAAP.
Affinity with the processes and concepts, related to CIR (tax credits for R&D projects).
Supports the local tax filings/payments, including accounting responsibilities for the local taxes.
Responsible for corporate income tax reporting and support European Tax Department (e.g. local deliverables, tax audits).
Cooperate with 3rd parties rendering related services, as public accountants, tax experts, auditors.
Maintains a strong control environment and ensures compliance to internal controls.
Be the primary contact for both internal and external auditors.
Prepare quarterly and ad-hoc reporting as required by the European or US finance team.
Manage one accountant responsible mainly for payroll.
Review preparation of government information reports.
Ad hoc requests as required and participation to European and Global finance projects.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
Strong financial expertise in both Management and Legal Accounting.
Strong knowledge of US and French GAAP.
Hands-on, can-do attitude.
Can handle challenges of performing layman’s, as well as complex tasks.
Can perform as a member of multiple interdisciplinary teams.
Proven competencies in the areas of leadership, communications, negotiations and partnerships, problem solving and decision making.
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills. Possess the ability to work as an integral part of a geographically and culturally diverse team.
Can-do attitude, energetic, forward-thinking team member with strong ability to multi-task & collaborate.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills – fluent in English and French.
Ability to initiate and follow through process and procedure improvements.
Advanced experience with ERP Systems (SAP), reconciliation management programs (Blackline).
Prepared to develop further through internal and/or external education.
Microsoft applications - Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
Education & Experience:
Completed study at minimal bachelor level, including Finance/Accounting/Business Economics degrees.
Accounting qualification is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years working experience in an international company, preferably a matrix organization
