Morgan Stanley is looking to recruit an Institutional Equity Division Counterparty Risk Manager in Paris.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary role is to manage the firm’s counterparty risk across the Bilateral OTC Equity Derivatives business, the Prime Brokerage Business, and the Clearing Businesses within Morgan Stanley Institutional Equities Division. This includes analysing and monitoring transactions and client portfolios to assess and quantify the portfolio risks and determine the appropriate leverage levels to protect the Morgan Stanley franchise.
- Ongoing review of exposures and identification of counterparty risk within the Institutional Equity Division
- Liaising with Sales, Trading and structuring on new opportunities, particularly where bespoke, complex, to understand the risk to the Firm and potential exposures
- Regular and ad-hoc communication to Management on Market Events, client-specific trades / scenarios, etc.
- Working with Quant Strat Team, Information Technology on further improving risk metrics across different equity derivatives products identification of tail risks.
- Negotiation of documentation with new counterparties
- Client dialogue on portfolio / trade proposals, and articulating Morgan Stanley’s margin approach
- Participation in Due Diligence on counterparties (strategy, leverage, composition)
- Setting of Trading Limits for client business (MSET, Give-ins, other bilateral IED derivatives)
- Regulatory work in context of OTC Mandatory Minimum Margin, MIFID 2, ad-hoc requests of Regulators.
- Regular engagement with second line (Credit, Operations, Legal, etc.)
Skills Required
- Product knowledge in Prime Brokerage margin lending, Equity Derivatives including options, variance / volatility swaps, other exotics derivatives, and capital markets derivatives transactions (margin loans, collar financing, etc.). Multi-asset knowledge for cleared derivative products.
- Relevant prior experience in a similar risk role
- Sound numerical skills, preferably a degree in a quantitative subject
- Enjoying teamwork across different divisions, disciplines in a fast-paced environment
