As a member of the Process Engineering & Combustion group, you will develop new gas purification technologies, for example, to capture CO2 or produce low carbon hydrogen. Our research work in the field of adsorption is based on experimental work and pilot plants which we build and operate to strengthen our knowledge and tools. These test benches and pilot plants enable us to characterize adsorbent performances and to carry out cyclic tests comparable to industrial processes.

Within the Adsorption team, you will work closely with our experts, researchers of other fields, AIR LIQUIDE engineering teams and external partners. Under the responsibility of the Adsorption team manager, your main missions will be:

-Take part in R&D projects by designing, constructing and starting-up test benches:

Perform process design (PFDs, P&IDs), equipment design, hydraulic calculations, specifications of safety device and instrumentation to meet the pilot requirements. Supervise the mechanical construction and PLC set-up, take part in safety studies and documentation development.
Set-up specifications and work with an external partner in the case of an external realization of the pilot plant; supervise design and construction to ensure a safe and reliable operation.
Functionally lead the project team; pass on your knowledge and train the pilot plants operators (technicians and engineers).
Maintain the test benches and pilots and ensure their reliability.

-Evolve towards a Design Authority role

-Contribute to innovations and development projects by undertaking technical studies:

Understand and analyze actual processes and technologies both from a technical and economical point of view. Identify new needs and technological limitations to propose improvements.
Use your creativity to innovate and assess the technico-economic feasibility of these innovations.
Take part in our techno watch, write patents and share your knowledge through scientific papers publication.

Profile & Competencies

Chemical Engineer or Process Engineer
Significant experience in test benches operation and design
Knowledge in adsorption or catalysis would be a plus
Staff management (student, intern, technicians…)
Fluent in English
Intermediate level in French with willingness to become fluent
Appetite for innovation and technology development
Organized, autonomous and rigorous
Ability to work within a team
