As Product Manager for Upstream Costs & Technology, you will responsible for leading commercial strategy, product maintenance and innovation, and go-to-market motion. This position is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth of product(s) through extensive understanding of market needs and requirements to solve customer problems. In doing so, this position interfaces with existing and potential clients, market leaders, sales, software development, product marketing and customer care to develop and deliver innovative solutions for the market. This position requires demonstrated understanding and experience in the upstream energy industry.
Our Upstream Costs & Technology products provide forward-looking market analysis, indexes and insights on project costs, service and equipment markets, and technology development. They enable E&P companies to plan and manage costs within a project portfolio, to better source and manage strategic technology development, and to optimize procurement with strategic category and supplier management. They also support oilfield service, equipment and technology companies with their upstream market strategy, business development and contract negotiations.
General Job Duties:
Creates the product vision and resulting development strategy Manages product life cycle from inception through retirement Responsible for documenting market requirements to support customer workflow problems Responsible for product road maps and prioritizing enhancements to existing products Develops development investment business cases for management approval Evolves the product through buy, build or partner strategies Creates and maintains competitive pricing schedules that reflect product value Mentors customer-facing staff development and training on product technology and sales information Works with Product Marketing to create effective customer value propositions that result in customer purchase and adoption of new products or enhancements to existing productsSpecific Job Duties:
Act as Subject Matter Expert on the Costs & Technology products within Upstream Insight business line, and these products’ place in customer workflows Interacts with members of product development, sales, customer care support, and directly with customers to provide and resolve any issues that may arise Coordinates with other Energy product teams to exploit synergies and opportunities to share technologies and/or integration of products Participates in customer focus / advisory and or user groupsEducation/Experience Requirements:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a client-facing commercial role Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or Geology, MBA preferred Experience in upstream oil and gas with a deep understanding of the E&P life cycle Experience in B2B Product Management Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Must be able to work effectively as part of a product team and foster team cooperation, often remote Stays current with rapidly changing industry and client needsOther skills:
Ability to articulate product positioning to both a business and technical audience Strong written and verbal communications with a strong aptitude for presenting thoughts and ideas to all levels of internal and external stakeholders Sales and business development experience with oil and gas insight and analytics products beneficial Experience with strategy, procurement & supply chain and technology persona within client industry beneficial Experience and familiarity of IHS Markit products and line of business beneficial-
