The Product Manager provides strategic direction for assigned product(s) within a larger product line while providing operational support as directed by the VP or Director of the product line. Responsibilities may include planning for assigned products within a product line; researching market data to support development decisions made by the product line leadership; and working with the cross-functional team to ensure a successful execution of the product line strategy.
The Product Manager will:
Participate in the development of the long-term strategic plans for product line(s)
Participate in product planning and development work in collaboration with product development teams to ensure timely delivery of market leading offerings
Gather and analyze data to support the decision-making process for product plans
Analyze financial performance of assigned product line(s) and under the guidance of the VP/Director manage the P&L’s for those product(s)
Maintain strong communication channels with Sales, Marketing, Development and other functional departments
Monitor and assess market and competitive trends and customer needs
Develop in collaboration with Marketing strategies and materials to support Sales product knowledge
Facilitate the pricing strategy process ensuring that we maximize revenue while remain in sync with market expectations.
Maintain the accuracy of pricing and ISBNs in our systems and throughout the Sales and Marketing process including the catalog and state bidding processes.
Work with Product Development to prioritize competing requirements when resources are finite
Ensure that Marketing and Sales remain informed of all delivery dates and any changes in product requirements
Under the management of Product Management leadership ensure that the daily operations for the department are maintained
Depending on the product line the Product Manager may lead a cross-functional team.
Skills/knowledge/abilities
Proven ability to build product strategies and coherent business plans and oversee those products from conception through sales.
Strategic thinker who can translate educational trends and customer needs into product solutions and market positioning.
Strong track record of developing partnerships, both internal and external to the organization.
Acts as the 'customer expert' for the organization, drawing on a comprehensive understanding of the marketplace
Ability to develop and monitor P&L’s.
Strong writing and communication skills
**Qualifications**
3-5 years in education or product management positions; experience managing a P&L is a plus
B.A. or B.S. (or equivalent) required
Knowledge of the K12 education industry; Math experience is a plus
