Summary:

The Product Manager, Microbiological Food Safety will be driving the PerkinElmer Solus food microbiology and pathogen detection platform, implementing product development, commercialization, and innovation growth strategies to drive penetration and expand global market share.

The incumbent is expected to leverage foundational expertise in microbiology and detection and build a clear understanding of regional market needs & trends, upcoming requirements and develop a solutions roadmap to best position the current and future portfolio to meet or exceed revenue and margin expansion expectations. This role will build deep market knowledge, translating these insights into strategic plans, including a market penetration strategy, product development pipeline and go-to-market approach.

You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; contributing to the bigger strategic vision and turn the crank on driving tactics in order to make the vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand food microbiology customer problems and find innovative solutions for the broader food market segment. You will be the one to ensure that our business is well-coordinated, ensuring strong communication across teams.

This role is home based anywhere in Western Europe, with regular travel to UK offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Champions the Solus pathogen detection platform, with full product lifecycle responsibility. Define needs for product development, acquisitions and/or divestments. Develop business case which clearly quantifies market opportunity. Develop compelling value propositions that are well differentiated and supported by voice of customer (VOC). Development of Food Safety market growth strategies based on fact-based analysis and identification of market trends, in alignment with PerkinElmer Food segment strategic priorities. Analyze and monitor competitive trends; technology advancements; customer needs assessment and regulatory requirements; define and execute countermeasures as needed. Collaborate in the product development process and be representative of the customer voice, from the product definition phase through the development phases to launch and beyond. Act as a strategic marketing champion within the organization - provide market insights to other functions, be an advocate for the voice of the customer, introduce marketing rigor, attend operations meetings and other communications forums Develop and agree messaging of the defined positioning to reflect value to our customers and to ensure that messaging is reflected across all sales tools and outward-facing materials. Become Product Champion and Knowledge Leader in relation to Solus' manufactured product and provide technical support and advise as necessary to the rest of the organization. Recommend pricing strategy for products to maximize long term profit, monitoring implementation in the chosen channels to market. Meets business and end market KPIs, such as revenue, margin expansion, market penetration and share gain Provide enthusiastic leadership for strong work ethic when interacting with PerkinElmer employees and business partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in biological or food science 3+ years of experience in microbiology or food safety diagnostic testing Proficiency and experience with diagnostic assay technologies – ELISA, PCR

Preferred Qualifications:

Master of Science, good business acumen. 5+ years experience in the food microbiology or related market, with network of industry connections. Working proficiency and technical experience in microbiological food safety Experience in customer and market segmentation, creating segment roadmaps, robust business cases, and commercialization of solutions. Ability to translate customer needs into application solutions to drive business growth Significant experience leading cross-functional teams to drive business results, exhibiting formal and informal leadership skills and be driven and exhibit strong goal / results orientated Experience in strategic planning and execution. Experience in planning marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, and successful public relations efforts. Must be able to accomplish results in a cross-functional team environment, exhibiting formal and informal leadership skills and be driven and exhibit strong goal / results orientated Proven track record of results either contributing to or directly developing, driving and maintaining high performing product lines, cutting edge strategies and strong market presence Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally. Main offices are in Mansfield and East Kilbride, UK.
