We are hiring a Data Scientist with Bioinformatics background to join the Innovation(R&D) department at Genomic Vision. The Data Scientist will be working closely with the teams to leverage data science techniques into ongoing and future projects relating to the usage of Genomic Vision proprietary technology. The ideal candidate will bring a broad understanding of bioinformatics, biostatistics, machine learning approaches and data structures to have a direct impact on Genomic Vision’s current and new products.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provides general bioinformatics analysis support for GV projects requiring probes synthesis for GMC (Genome morse code) design via sequence alignment, polymorphism identification, secondary structures screening, expression analysis, and visualization tools for final design representation.Assists in development, testing, and maintenance of modular software pipelines (GMC online) for genome sequence alignment, new assembly annotation, downloading data from public repositories, and transforming data to the necessary formats.Apply best fit statistical/computational methods to analyse biological data, such as replication kinetics, gene expression, copy-number variation, mutation, deletion, translocation etc. in a fast-paced product development environment.Contribute to image acquisition & processing design and develop pipelines to address novel analytical challenges to automate high-throughput analysis of genetic data in a robust manner.Summarizes data analyses results in the form suitable for the first draft of written reports and make preliminary interpretations of the data.Help to identify, evaluate, and incorporate relevant algorithms and biostatistical tools by reviewing pertinent literatures in bioinformatics and computational biology to aid the existing/future GV projects.Has experience in using programming languages (Python (pandas, sklearn, tensorflow/pytorch), SQL etc.) to manipulate, visualize, and draw insights from data sets.Requirements:
Master’s degree in relevant field plus from 0 to 2 years of industry experience.Expertise in statistics, computational biology and bioinformatics.Work with Innovation and Bio-IT departments to plan and execute high throughput projects with large and diverse datasets generated by in-house experimental setup.Strong communicator who effectively adjusts to technical and non-technical audiences.Demonstrates ability for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.Motivated, proactive, and fast learner.Language:
Excellent written and vocal skills in English and/or French.Plus to have:
Basic laboratory hands on skills to contribute to projects’ data generation using GV technology.Contact:
