The Data Science team works on a broad range of subjects.  We actively participate in the definition and development of our suite of products on fraud detection, anti-money laundering and claim automation.  We have a lot of technical and professional experience in data science, data engineering, coding, business understanding and client interactions. Additionally, we also work on various data types such as structured data, free text, documents and images. 

What You'll Do...

Actively participate in the development of our suite of products, including fraud detection, anti-money laundering, and claim automation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to understand data requirements and contribute to the design and implementation of data-driven solutions.
Work with various data types, transforming and processing them from client extracts to insertion into our data stores (SQL, ElasticSearch).
Design and implement efficient data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, cleanse, and integrate data from multiple sources.
Develop, test, and fine-tune models, enabling seamless integration into complex environments for tasks such as fraud detection and automation.
Implement data quality and data governance measures to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of our data assets.
Automate key business tasks by implementing them in our production process framework using C#.
Monitor and optimize data infrastructure and data workflows to ensure high performance and scalability.
Conduct meetings with clients and interact with external stakeholders, obtaining direct user feedback, presenting business cases, and defining the roadmap for product evolutions.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data engineering technologies and best practices, and apply them to enhance our data engineering capabilities.
Contribute to a positive and innovative team culture by sharing knowledge, providing mentorship, and actively participating in code reviews and technical discussions.

What You Bring...

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.  Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a track record of successfully delivering data-driven solutions.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#, and experience in writing maintainable, production-quality code.
Solid understanding of data engineering concepts and experience with data manipulation, data integration, and ETL processes.
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as data warehousing techniques.
Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with complex and unstructured data sets.
Client-focused mindset with excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment, adapting to changing requirements and tight deadlines.
Fluency in both English and French, as Shift is an international company with a diverse workforce.
