The overall responsibility of the Marketing Director is to lead the Marketing Organization in the GTR Channel. The Marketing Director is a senior leader in the organization, and an important member of the leadership team. In collaboration with the GTR leadership team, the role is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the worldwide Travel Retail business, spread across the globe and across all its channels (airports, airlines, cruises, borders and Military). Specifically, the role is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of the Marketing and Portfolio strategies for the channel, building the capability of the overall marketing team and providing leadership to the brand and marketing directors. The role collaborates with multiple internal stakeholders, including the regional and global brand teams and marketing and commercial leaders. The role also works closely with senior leadership at customer partners. The individual would retain responsibility for agency selection and interface as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Direction

Coordinates the execution of brand strategies within global travel retail outlets, including duty free, border stores, transportation channels, and the U.S. Military.

Participates as a member of the GTR Leadership team by providing input and leadership to influence the company’s operations, strategic development, business and portfolio strategies, long term brand health and special projects as necessary, and reports agreed-upon metrics to team

Develops long-term brand plans and oversees their integration into annual plans, global marketing processes and frameworks

Identifies and evaluates the potential of current / future opportunities in the market, including new categories/brands/acquisitions.

Seeks out portfolio development opportunities and synergies and develops actionable insights to unlock material innovation opportunities

Provides marketing leadership for the channel’s long-term strategic planning process

Participates as a member of the Emerging International Leadership team, to ensure GTR strategic priorities are mobilising around B-F global marketing priorities

Marketing Organization Leadership

Provides strategic leadership to the GTR marketing team

Ensures that the marketing organization in GTR is structured to effectively deliver against business priorities

Ensures that the capabilities of the marketing teams are evaluated and developed in line with the global capability framework and Next Generation capability priorities

Builds a talent pipeline of capable individuals, ensuring a comprehensive succession plan for key marketing roles in GTR

Provides direct people management to direct reports, including but not limited to; Talent development, team development, succession planning, capability building, performance & growth planning and business planning

Responsible for both long-term and annual GTR marketing budget/resource allocation and prioritization, ensuring a healthy balance of long and short term brand building, in line with Global resource allocation guidance

Desired Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or similar discipline, or equivalent experience

12 - 15 years of significant Marketing experience in both multi-market portfolio and regional brand marketing roles and prior commercial leadership experience.

Record of success in senior Marketing roles in matrix organized International FMCG/luxury products/beverage or image driven brands business.

Strong Business Acumen and professional knowledge of the dynamics of the Global Travel Retail environment.

Excellent leadership skills and people management experience.

Wide-ranging experience of the major marketing disciplines: brand strategy development, positioning development, insight generation to unlock growth, short and long term brand planning, major advertising, communications, CRM strategy development, media strategy and planning, digital strategy, pricing strategy, portfolio management and development, major innovation and NPD, qualitative and quantitative research, major agency. selection/management/contract development/remuneration and evaluation, TTL campaign integration.
