The ESC is currently looking for a talented Communication Officer for a determined contract, CDD, from as soon as possible for 9 months to work at its headquarters in Sophia Antipolis, France.
What the communication team does
We are responsible for the promotion and visibility of all European Society of Cardiology (ESC) activities across digital and print communication channels.*. Our mission is to ensure that the cardiology community knows about - and can easily engage with - the science, tools and education offered by the ESC.
Each department within the ESC has a key contact within the communication team. This person is in charge of planning, delivering and reporting on the communication support for that department’s projects.
*Excludes press/media (public, medical and niche) and social media channels which are managed by the ESC’s media team.
Job Overview
As a communication officer you will be on the front line of delivering integrated communication campaigns on both digital and print channels. You will work closely with all members of the Communication & Marketing Division, as well as other ESC departments, cardiologists and external suppliers. Your role will include the creation of communication plans, tactic planning, production and reporting.
This is a deadline orientated role in a fast-paced environment. If you’re creative, delivery orientated, highly organised and strive for excellence, this is the job for you!
Main tasks and responsibilities
Act as the primary contact for communication activities of assigned projects/ activities and intermediary among the different actors involved in the communication campaigns. Engage relevant volunteers to ensure quality content. Plan communication tactics throughout year – which audience, what message, which communication channel and when. Work with marketing, brand & production and media teams to develop communication plans. Write content briefs and coordinate production of digital newsletters, bulletins, dedicated e-campaigns and printed matter (brochures, flyers, reports). Create promotional and ‘corporate’ messaging and supports to be used during congresses and meetings (onsite promotional signage, stand messaging, editorial content for congress news (print and digital), mobile app news pushes, congress final programmes etc.) Review and quality check webpages written by departments and create promotional content.Provide regular reports to the communication activities to comm. & project owner.
Organise internal meetings to ensure coordination and understanding of the needs in relation to specific projects and initiatives. Prepare and send minutes. Develop a relationship based on trust and expertise with Comm colleagues, project/activity owners and volunteers. Professional skills
English: mother tongue level or exceptional high standards Outstanding copywriting, editing and proofreading skills Adept at creating short, sharp copy for digital and print promotion Adept at briefing and managing external suppliers (e.g. photographer, journalists, videographers) Basic budget management (costing out tactics, purchase order management etc) Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in communication Familiar with web content management systems (CMS) Experience in online digital marketing (mailing, social media, Google Adwords…) Computer skills (Pack Office, collaborative tools, ppt presentations)Behavioral skills
