Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.        
 It is anticipated that, following the conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.        


Position Description:  


New Consumer Health Company (NCHC) is currently recruiting a Communications and Public Affairs Manager to join the Southern Europe & France Communications & Public Affairs, team. The Communications & Public Affairs Manager for France will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, and implementation of integrated external and internal communication and public affairs strategies that engage and influence stakeholders and support the growth objectives of NCHC France. They will work closely with the Communications & Public Affairs Leader for Southern Europe & France. This role will require a high level of credibility, and strong interpersonal skills to be able to build trusted relationships with external and internal stakeholders in France and to work with multi-functional teams in France and across the Southern Europe & France Cluster. The role is based in Paris, France, and reports to the Communications and Public Affairs Leader – Southern Europe & France. 


Key Responsibilities: 


Drive employee engagement and advocacy through powerful organizational communication: 



Partner with business leaders, and develop internal communication plans, programs, and messages to inspire, engage, inform, and align employees in France. 


Coach leaders to develop their ability to engage and inspire their organizations. 


Partner with the Communications & Public Affairs Leader for Southern Europe & France to ensure harmonization of key initiatives across the cluster and to ensure France is visible in the broader cluster and regional internal communications. 



Guide decisions to drive business growth, and develop and enhance our reputation: 


Develop and implement Communication and Public Affairs strategies to strengthen the corporate image and reputation of NCHC France as a thought leader, breakthrough innovator, and trusted partner. 



Maintain an understanding of current issues in the environment affecting NCHC France and its brands. 


Develop public affairs strategies in partnership with GA&P, Regional Communications & Public Affairs, and other Business Leaders, that inform and shape belief, action, behavior, and advocacy to shape the external environment. 


Develop and strengthen relationships with and serve as a trusted communication advisor to business leaders. 


Proactively engage, inform, and influence key external stakeholders; develop relationships with key external stakeholders, including media and major trade associations. 


Assess opportunities and organize proactive participation of company leadership in key events and forums; manage leadership communications, external visibility, and media presence, including media training, speech preparation, etc. 




Act as a strategic partner with franchises. 


Identify and apply key outcomes and metrics to communication practices, and provide insights that improve quality, performance, and key capabilities. 



Maintain stakeholder trust through effective management of issues: 



Proactively identify potential NCHC or brand-related issues and develop local issues management strategies and processes partnering with the Communications & Public Affairs Leader for Southern Europe & France and Regional Issues Management Leader. 


Ensure excellence in the management of product issues and other situations that may impact stakeholder trust and company reputation. 



Partner closely with regional communication and Global Issues Management team.  


Qualifications

Required Competencies: 



Degree in Business or Communication with minimum 5 years’ proven experience in a communications or public affairs role, ideally at a corporate environment, public relations agency, industry trade body or industry in-house role


Strong experience in media relations required, with the ability to form trusted relationships with key reporters and influencers


Strong experience in public affairs is required




Demonstrated expertise in internal and change communication, issues management and integrated marketing communications 


Demonstrated ability to develop compelling stories and excellent written and verbal communications skills in French and fluent English skills


Must demonstrate an international mindset, operating flexibly from a regional and local level 


Proven leadership and management of complex projects; ability to cooperate effectively and thrive in a matrix organization to drive projects to conclusion


Ability to act with a sense of urgency, balance multiple priority assignments and deliver against tight time constraints; and be calm under pressure.




Ability to work in a compliant manner, respecting the local and regional regulations, and accustomed to dealing with sensitive and confidential information 


Must possess high accountability for work quality and a solution-oriented mindset



Preferred Competencies:  



Prior professional focus on communication within the consumer health, personal care or pharmaceutical sector is preferred


Understanding of external environment that may influence business opportunities such as politics, regulation, business trends, NGO activities is preferred




Business Mindset: Use business and market insights to support, advise on, and identify solutions 


Trusted Business Partner: Builds and maintains trusted partnerships with internal stakeholders across functions and leverages influential communication to frame analytical insights and develop fact-based business strategies focused on value creation


Digital Champion/Technology Advocate: Embrace and practice a digital mindset through encouraging and role modeling the use of technology 


Agility and Innovation: Leverages an agile and creative mindset to adapt to change and drive innovative value creation, continuous process improvement, and proactive learning through new technology, processes, and people
