Context

Royal Canin has a strong global innovation agenda aimed at delivering superior health nutrition to cats & dogs through 3 business pillars: Veterinarian, Professionals and Specialised Pet Trade. Our centralized Development model serves this intentional growth agenda with ambitious innovation/renovation projects in wet & dry product portfolios.

Through the development of new projects, product relaunches or lifecycle activations, the Global Scientific Support Specialist is accountable for the delivery of scientific knowledge, the definition of Key Product Health Benefits and Claims and the appropriate substantiation for these claims within her/his ranges. She/He gathers and captures scientific information, translates the resulting knowledge into clear and accurate scientific messages aimed at global dissemination to support competitive edge of her/his products. She/he works in tight partnership with the R&D interfaces, Marketing Brand Managers and Corporate Affair teams to ensure these messages are embedded rigorously and consistently during the product development, launch and renovation processes.

Key responsibilities

Develop and disseminate the scientific content of innovation/renovation projects

Capture and Leverage the existing knowledge on Dog & Cat nutritional needs from external partners: Universities, scientific literature, Key Opinion Leaders or internal interfaces: Discover Team research, Field trials, product performance evaluations Contribute to the team work for the development brief via new products & formulas proposals, draft formulation logics & continuous improvement in compliance with PPM process Ensure consistent, rigorous scientific messages are delivered to fulfil our ‘Dog and Cat First’ approach. Act as a custodian of this Scientific Knowledge during the pre & post market launch process. Provide Scientific Evidence for product claims substantiation. Evaluate the risk of on-pack and off-pack claims and propose solutions to secure the business. Collaborate with global science communication team to develop scientific tools according to the needs of scientific communication community (such as scientific dossiers, PowerPoint presentations, new training tools…)

Follow the technical performance of a product range to drive global product improvement initiative and prepare future range evolution

Gather and follow the technical performance of a product range (feeding performance, digestibility, customer care feedback, requests of regions and market environment …) Build a clear, holistic, regularly updated view of the range technical performance Follow the performance of competition whenever relevant

Provide scientific Support after Launch throughout product lifecycle

Support interfaces especially Scientific Communication & key markets for technical questions, clarifications and deepened technical support on the range when necessary. Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs in providing support & contents ensuring that emerging trends, issues and opportunities in the range are highlighted, dealt with and understood by the business. Continue to drive the implementation of additional research and scientific presentations around the performance and benefits of our products
Profile Education & Professional Qualification Graduated in Veterinary Medicine, PhD in Animal Biology or similar. A specialization with one of the recognized European or American Veterinary specialist colleges will be an advantage (Veterinary Internal Medicine, Veterinary Compared Nutrition, Feline Medicine, and Reproduction). Knowledge/Experience Significant experience (+5 years) in veterinary, education, research, industrial fields or marketing./ Strong analytical skills, in both scientific and marketing Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with proven ability to communicate complex science verbally and through written materials, to a variety of audiences including expert and non-technical audiences

Ability to travel for business up to 10%
