The Role Scaleway strengthens its Corporate Communication department with a talented “Communication manager” to lead external communications. This is a brand-new role with global reach in a dynamic, fast-paced team. This person will be responsible for the effective design of long-term communications strategies for both internal and external audiences while executing against day-to-day communications needs in collaboration with the Legal, Internal Communications, HR, Policy, and other stakeholders within Scaleway.

Communications Manager Missions: You’ll craft effective communication strategies and messaging that successfully lands in a human way, and considers the unique needs of different internal and external communities across Scaleway. At times, you’ll also influence our employer brand and help connect dots across to ensure we’re putting people’s experience first when communicating change, strategies or announcements. Develop communications strategies that support the corporate goals and focus areas throughout all communication channels: social media platforms, website, blog, events, thought leadership programs, speaking engagements, and others Develop and maintain a global editorial calendar Coordinate with cross-functional team to implement consistent communications across our offices and teams Develop and create a wide range of internal and external communications materials including posts, creation of wikis/websites, blog posts, communications plans, statements, briefing materials for executives and more Develop, execute, and manage global communications and campaigns, applying a consistent brand Increase social media and digital footprint with an international outreach Draft, edit, and review existing policies partnering with legal, HR, internal communications, and other teams to develop and execute change management and communications plans Consult with internal leaders about their communications strategies, and provide editing support across the organization to ensure consistency Create change management strategies and plans that support key initiatives and program rollouts Create and maintain a way to gather feedback about initiatives and measure communication effectiveness

What We Expect from You

The successful candidate will design, execute, and manage a communication strategy that improves awareness and drives understanding and engagement related to our corporate and overall communication needs. You should be exceptionally organized and detail oriented, capable of managing cross-functional projects and work streams end to end, with an aptitude for prioritization. Strong writing and editing skills are essential—specifically the ability to communicate complex, technical concepts to diverse audiences in a clear and concise manner. You enjoy a fast-paced environment and are able to ask the right questions in order to get a quick understanding of programs, products or initiatives to craft rich narratives. You see beyond the challenges and think creatively about solutions. You stay focused and flexible in a complex and ambiguous environment, and are not easily deterred by change.

Minimal requirements

Native or bilingual English speaker and writer, Fluent in French. Spelling and grammar must be excellent. Spanish or German are a plus! If you’re not fluent in both French and English, it’s a deal breaker. Bachelor’s degree Experience and training in related field and 75+ years experience in a full time communications role Experience in internal and external communications Experience in growth hack and social media Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working autonomously Experience turning complex information into relevant, engaging, timely and valuable content for different audiences Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional groups including Legal, Policy, Brand, Marketing, and Technical Experience identifying communication issues and solving problems using judgment and analysis, providing communications guidance and support Media relations and social media analytics skills and strategic thinking skills Experience scaling a communications program Experience working with executives in fast-paced, regulated environments Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and effectively, thus using communication to drive changes and influence a cross functional team, internal and external stakeholders Strong execution skill and ability to drive different groups of people towards a common goal, while delivering on time and quality Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building, and collaboration with a diverse, cross-functional, global team Self-motivated, proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities Determined hard worker, flexible & open to working on various tasks that are not always part of your scope. Experience in, or strong affinity with, the IT industry; documenting APIs, Open Source
