|Job Summary: A Director in Visual Design manages people with senior creative responsibilities and articulates the visual design strategy and principles to the business. She/he leads the training of the visual design team and is responsible for hiring. She/he is a key stakeholder in the resource planning of major projects.~ |Responsibilities:~ Customer (or User) Focus ? Predicts trends within customer segments. ? Thoroughly understands the use cases and needs relating to the organisation's products. ? Thoroughly understands competitive products and strategy, and how they influence customer decisions. ? Balances organizational needs with customer needs and creates a strategic plan for the organization. ? Discerns how value is defined and perceived by each customer segment.~ Creative Problem Solving ? Identifies if we are have the right people in the right places to solve problems. ? Leverages the team to identify innovative creative solutions. ? Applies a highly skilled level of critical and design thinking. ? Shares and promotes learnings that drive forward the creative direction of the organisation. ? Targets the 'wicked problems' of the organisation. ? Oversees the testing of solutions to check it solves the problem.~ Product Design ? Leads the User-Centred visual design process, making sure the team follow consistent steps. ? Facilitates workshops for stakeholders to give feedback on design work. ? Represents visual design on cross-functional working groups. ? Is in close collaboration with the UX Research Manager I to ensure alignment. ? Is in close collaboration with the UX Design Manager I to ensure alignment.~ Data Driven Analysis & Testing ? Extracts most relevant data to offer a unique design strategy. ? Presents findings of data driven analysis and testing to guide the organisation. ? Proactively uses data to establish key metrics for team. ? Identifies gaps where data is needed and introduces new analytical tools. ? Regularly oversees the testing of design work. ? Ensures team iterates work based on testing and data analysis. ? Uses data to inform testing future strategy.~ Technical Skills ? Has an excellent knowledge of the tech stack of the organisation. ? Groups designers with complementary skills on projects to facilitate learning. ? Understands full capabilities of design software (Adobe, Sketch) and oversees its use by the team. ? Identifies need for training in technical skills by team and organises training. ? Negotiates licences to design software for team.~ |Competencies:~ Personal Capability Practices Self-Development ?
