Contenu de l'offre Data Analyst chez Orbit

Despite what it says above, all positions at Orbit are open to anyone operating between the time zones of UTC-7 and UTC+2. Orbit is a remote-first organization.

Hello! Orbit is hiring a data analyst to help build the main Orbit application, which equips community builders with data and tools to understand and grow their community.

Data plays an essential role in the success of our application. At its core is the Orbit Model, a new way to model customer and community relationships that is not based on the marketing and sales funnel. Around it, data goes in and out of Orbit and multiple data integrations are supported, e.g. GitHub, Twitter, Slack or Discord. Finally, our customers get access to multiple insights & reports and new ones are regularly added.

We’re looking for a data analyst who is a strong individual contributor and can solve problems from both 30,000 feet as well as deep in the details.

Your mission

You’ll be studying our product data and think about features we could build for our users based on the data we have.

To give you an idea, here are the kinds of questions you will tackle:

What is the coverage of our geolocation & company data and how can we improve it?

How can we measure slipping away community members and when to alert our customers so they can re-engage them?

How can we make the Orbit model even more central in both our customers’ day-to-day activities and strategy?

Can we think about new insightful visualizations of our customers’ communities?

You’ll have lots of freedom, work with a nimble cross-functional team and talk with customers directly.

We are looking for someone senior enough to have the picture of product + data + business in their heads.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in data analytics

Excellent level in SQL and knowledge in at least another programming language (Python/R, etc.)

Experience retrieving data from web APIs (REST, GraphQL)

Experience building dashboards (Metabase or equivalent)

Experience with ETL tools (Airflow, DBT, Fivetran, Segment are a +)

Background on a quantitative analytical role field such as Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics… or the equivalent work experience

Strong communication and presentation skills

Product acumen (understanding of product challenges, organization, etc.)

If you don’t feel that you meet those qualifications on paper but are still excited about the opportunity, please apply anyway! We believe great talent can come from anywhere, and we know that a resume doesn’t tell the whole story of who you are and what you can do.

Additionally, we’re generally willing to be flexible about the title based on your experience and seniority. If this role doesn’t seem quite right for your level, or you are looking for your next role to have a specific title, we’re happy to talk about it. Don’t hesitate to ask or let us know what you need.

Working at Orbit

Orbit is a remote-first, fully distributed company with employees all over the world. To make sure our team has some overlap time to meet synchronously, we limit our hiring to candidates in time zones between UTC-7 and UTC+2. If you happen to live in San Francisco or Paris, you have the option to join other members of the team at a small outpost, but this is not required (and as such, we don’t offer relocation to those cities). We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.

We offer to all employees:

Competitive compensation including salary and stock options

Flexible and family-friendly working arrangements

Minimum 4 weeks of vacation per year

Parental leave beyond what is legally required

Your dream hardware, software, and conferencing setup for your home office

Paid courses, books, and professional development

A personal community building budget

Need something not listed here? Let’s talk about it! At Orbit, we have teammates around the world, so certain benefits (like medical and retirement) will vary based on where you live. We take the health and well-being of our teammates seriously. Just tell us what you need to be happy and successful, and we’ll try our best to accommodate.

The hiring process

We are a young startup, frequently iterating on our interview processes. The specific steps you go through may vary, but for all candidates, we hold the following principles in mind:

Everyone hears back from us, no matter the decision. At Orbit, nobody’s application falls into a black hole.

We respect candidates’ time and energy. We will strive for a 2-3 week interview process, unless you request more time.

We conduct conversational interviews as well as collaboration sessions, which are designed to help you get a sense of what it’s really like to work with our team.

We want everyone, candidates as well as interviewers, to come away feeling positive about the experience. Everyone should feel that they got something out of meeting and exploring the opportunity together, even if an offer isn’t extended or accepted.

And most importantly:

Orbit does not discriminate in employment matters on the basis of race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, or any other protected class. We support workplace diversity. In fact, we strongly believe that diversity contributes to a broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to a better company and better products. We are working hard to increase the diversity of our team wherever we can and we actively encourage everyone to consider becoming a part of it.
